On Wednesday 18th December the whole school enjoyed a day filled with Christmas and Maths!
Class 1 children enjoyed making their own wrapping paper using repeating patterns and used their mathematical knowledge to do some baking. Class 2 also made repeating pattern wrapping paper and had to programme the beebots to help Father Christmas deliver his presents. Class 3 made Christmas cards using either symmetrical patterns or horizontal and vertical lines. Class 4 cracked codes and uncovered mystery pictures using their mental maths as well as calculating Christmas gift costs. Last, but not least, Class 5 used carefully measured angles to design and make cards, and create maps to help Father Christmas on his big night.
Not only did the children immerse themselves in some lovely festive activities, they also learnt that maths is everywhere and used in almost everything!
