This week we have spotted our Oyster Catchers returning to nest on the school roof. Class 1 children spotted the birds and decided to make them a nest using the outdoor play equipment. They thought carefully about what they might need; somewhere safe to lay their eggs, food and water.
The children collected resources and thread cereal onto ribbons to hang in the trees. We did some more research into Oyster Catchers on the computers and discovered they are black and white with red eyes and an orange bill (We now know that bill means beak). They had pink legs and they are 'waders' which means they paddle in the water.
We are looking forward to seeing and hearing some chicks soon.
