Class 3 had a really exciting morning just before the half term holiday where we mummified a teddy bear to find out what the Ancient Egyptians believed in. The highlights were pulling out the brain through the nose with a hook, putting the organs into canopic jars and wrapping the body in bandages before it was placed in the sarcophagus. We put a death mask on and placed it in the burial chamber of a pyramid! The children were fascinated and could explain why the heart was left in and why the body was covered in salt. We then wrote instructions 'How to Mummify a Pharaoh' which produced some amazing cross-curricular writing!
