Friday 22nd June was the day of our school summer fair. Organised by the teachers and children and supported by parents and the community, it was a real fun filled, child-orientated evening. During the afternoon, the children in Class 4 and 5 helped Mrs Pearson set up the playground with stalls and games. All classes set up their stall selling the products made from their Enterprise Challenge. This involved Mrs Pearson giving each class £10.00 for them to turn into a profit. Each class did something different, Class 1 made bead keyrings for book bags, Class 2 made a variety of different crafts including making bunnies from old socks, Class 3 baked cakes and Class 4 produced some freshly squeezed lemonade whilst Class 5 painted lucky horseshoes. Alongside the Enterprise Challenge stalls were a wide variety of games including splat the rat, guess the name of the teddy, a tombola and the very popular soak the teacher. Children also organised stalls including a basketball shoot out and nail bar. Mr White ran a Jumble Stall which had so much Jumble on it that there was something for everyone. Mrs Leak cooked burgers and sausages and a bouncy castle provided endless fun. Thank you to Bentham Fire Service who brought a fire engine and to Mrs Townley and Mrs Rogerson who organised drinks and ice lollies. A fun filled family evening that raised over £700.00 which will go towards schools trips in the next academic year.
