On Wednesday, the SNAG team and 3 representatives from the Eco-Club were invited to take part in a Summer Celebration at Harlow Carr Gardens, Harrogate. Throughout the day we visited lots of different workshops and got to take part in some amazing activities. We learnt about different seasonal vegetables and watched a cookery demonstration, learnt about food miles, admired the amazing gardens and even planted some of our own garlic. We also had the opportunity to make fruit bugs and try different fruits we may never have tried before, we peddled a bike to make a smoothie and met some farm animals. The children had the most amazing day and came away so happy with everything they had done.
The event was heald in order to celebrate the achievements of schools that had recieved their Food for Life awards. Last month, Bentham School managed to gain not only their Bronze Food for Life Award but also their Silver Eco-Schools award and we were delighted to be presented with these by Councillor Dickison and Herbie Carrot on the day. A huge big THANK YOU and WELL DONE to all of those children involved in the School Nutrition Action Group (SNAG) and Eco-Club who have worked so hard over the past year. Here's hoping we recieve many more awards in the year to come!
