As part of our KS2 topic 'Inventors and Inventions' we have been looking at the life and times of the Victorians. On Thursday, KS2 arrived at school dressed in traditional Victorian clothing ready for the day ahead. The children were made to line up outside their classrooms ready for a morning inspections of hands and shoes.
We spent the morning taking part in some traditional Victorian school lessons; handwriting practice, arithmatic, singing practice and a little bit of geography. In the afternoon, the boys and the girls were then seperated to take part in some typical Victorian activities. The girls learnt how to sew, whilst the boys became inventors for the afternoon. We all had a great day, although not many of the children enjoyed how strict life was in a Victorian school!
