Friday the 11th of November 2016 marked 98 years since the signing of the Armistace book against allies during World War I. On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, silence fell over Bentham main street as the children of Bentham School, ex servicemen and community members gathered on school hill to remember those who not only fought in the World Wars, but those who continue to fight to this day. The 2 minutes silence began with the sound of The Last Post played on trumpet, followed by a reading of the exhortation by Reverand Anne. Our head boy and girl, Micah and Isobelle, were extremely honoured to be invited to lay a poppy wreath at the service and we also heard a reading of 'In Flanders Fields' by Ben and Leon, 2 year 6 pupils. Well done to all the boys and girls involved.
